You made your freebie for your email subscriber. And you’ve published it on your blog or website. Now you’re ready to enter the email marketing world. But how? What do you do now? More importantly, what do you do when someone signs up?

Talk to them, of course?

How do I talk to my email subscriber, you ask?

Be yourself. Look at it as if this person is your best friend. Because like attracts like so, you were blessed with this subscriber because she connected with you. Or at the very least she connected with your freebie and your blog, or podcast, or YouTube video. Whatever way you attracted your subscriber, treat them like gold.

Your goal is to sell to them ultimately, but building a relationship that they can connect to while you sell, will get you a future buyer for life. And wouldn’t you want your subscriber to keep coming back for more?

Keep it real

Don’t fill your email up with a lot of fluff that isn’t you. It will scream out in your copy. You more than likely won’t know the subscribed personally, but write your content as if you do.

Make Your Email Subscribers Real To You

Give your ICA a name even if it’s not your subscriber’s name and talk to them. It may not feel real, but if you continue to concentrate on that one ICA, you’ll be able to give her what she needs. Because if you try to please everyone, you’ll please no one.

Try and write your copy as if you are speaking to that one person. Be yourself, and if they connect with you, you’ll have an email subscriber and buyer for life.

If you’re looking as to what to create to give to your client, you can grab my freebie below:

Give Them Upbeat, Natural Language

Email marketing is all about connecting with other humans. As you’re writing out your copy for your emails, keep it upbeat, and make the words less formal. Some even use cuss words. Now that may turn off a few people, but if that is you, by all means, turn them off. Those are the people that you don’t want on your list.

If you have someone continually correcting you or picking on what you write, they don’t belong on your list. There are enough people out there that your content will inspire. You don’t need to spend time on those that are only out to make you feel bad so they can feel better.

Don’t waste any time on them.

Don’t Be Afraid To Be You

In all of this, no matter what you are offering, it’s essential not to be afraid of being yourself. Your business has to be what you want to give to others. If you are forcing it, again, it’ll not only end up in your content, but it’ll fall flat.

Give to your ideal client, what they are craving for and put your best effort into it.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. As your business evolves, so will your content. Still, the material has to be true to you. You have to be proud of it, or you won’t even promote it. You’ll keep it a secret or just hope that someone will discover it.

And then you’ll be afraid that it isn’t good enough for anyone else to see.

My Fear

I always wanted to be a writer. And I wrote a few books for a small publishing company that has since closed. But they were romance books, and I was so embarrassed by them. Foolish? Yes, because I didn’t let anyone but close family members read them. And I never promoted them.

But now they are collecting dust. I still have a book out there that I don’t promote because I was trying to jump on the romance author train that wasn’t meant for me.

If you’re going to put something out there, make sure it reflects on who and what you want to be. And of course that it’s what your audience is looking for from you.

Get Over Yourself

The other thing that might trip you up is your mindset. Even if you feel like it’s good stuff, you might be too afraid of what someone else thinks. It will only deprive your audience of something great that you have to offer.

Get over yourself and push past the fear and do it.

It isn’t just about you. It’s how you can help others achieve their goals. And if someone doesn’t like it, it wasn’t meant for them. That’s all. It doesn’t have to mean anything else but that.

Learn To Write Good Copy

Good copy and email marketing go hand and hand. And the only way you can get better is to do it. It sounds so simple, but it’s not. It’ll be the hardest thing you’ll ever have to do. It isn’t easy to put yourself out there. It takes grit. But it can also be the most rewarding thing for you.

There are a few places you can learn how to write better copy. Well, there are several, but one that I recommend is The Copy Cure. This program will take you through the process of how to be a better writer. Then it takes practice. And more practice.

Know that you have something that you want to give to the world and that there are people that need it. You are worthy of this knowledge that you hold inside of you. Push past the fear and go for it.

Now, if you are still trying to figure out what kind of freebie you need to make so that you can start getting subscribers, I have a freebie that will help you with that. It’s a brainstorming exercise to help you narrow it down.

Let me know other ways that I can help you with how to reach your email subscriber.
