How God Can Help You In Your Decision Making

Decision making can be difficult when it affects your life and the life of others. You don’t want to make a mistake, but you’re at a loss as to which way to go.

God has a path for you.

Wouldn’t it be easier if we could talk to God and ask him what his plans are for us? We’d never have to wonder if we were going in the right direction. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t grow or learn either, and that is what life is all about.

Decision making can be a little easier if we lean on God.

Set aside some time to talk to God. Ask him if this is the way to go. Pray on it. Study the word and pay attention to what words and verses pop out at you. And be patient. It may take time before he answers you.

How do you know if he has answered you?

God speaks to us in different ways. It can be subtle, or it can almost clock us in the head. Maybe it’s a preacher’s message. I know I have heard his encouragement in a message when I’m down or upset. Sometimes it’s now what I want to hear, but I do take it to heart. After all, if you ask Him, you at least have to take what he says seriously.

Sometimes he can speak to you in a song, a reading or even a sign you are passing on the road. If it strikes you as a sign, it probably is.

It could also come in a conversation with a friend or a stranger passing by.

The trick is you have to listen for it. And when you think you’ve heard it, pray on it some more. Ask yourself if this is what God wants or what you want? And have faith that if you heard wrong that He will make sure that you advance in the right direction.

What if it doesn’t seem logical?

If it is something out of left field and not even close to what you thought, take a breath. God can be relentless. If you choose to ignore his answer because you’re not into it, He will keep persisting. You will have to trust Him that it will work out.

Faith is the ultimate answer.
